PRAYAGRAJ: In view of the preparations for Mahakumbh 2025, the railway and district administration have started finalising plans for undertaking several important projects pertaining to railway stations in the city.
Several decisions were taken in an important meeting of district administration officers with railway officers held at the Prayagraj divisional office of North Central Railway on Thursday evening. It has been decided to open an entry for Subedarganj station from Kanpur road side which will provide a major relief to the passengers coming to this station which will be further expanded in view of Mahakumbh.
Presently, the main entrance of this satellite station of Prayagraj Junction is from the other side of the railway track (Rajrupur side) which is very cumbersome for most of the passengers of the city barring those from the old city area. “Now the plan has been activated to have an entrance from the Kanpur road side for this station before Mahakumbh which will also solve the need of the commuters going for the airport too”, said senior PRO, NCR, Amit Malviya. Since opening of the entrance will also require widening of the existing road towards the station, railways and district administration is in touch with the army as more land is required to widen the road.
Along with Subedarganj, it has been decided to widen the approach road to Chheoki station too. A report was presented at the meeting for beautification of the areas around the railway stations.
Several points were discussed in the meeting held at the DRM office under the chairmanship of DRM Himanshu Badauni and Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant. The beautification of Nawab Yusuf Road is also on the cards and it was agreed to remove the encroachment from this road. The divisional commissioner said that all the work pertaining to Mahakumbh 2025 will be done in coordination with all the departments including railways. He also mentioned the proposed four-lane ROB at Chaufatka and assured that the same would be constructed before Mahakumbh. In the review meeting of Mahakumbh works, it was informed that before 2025, 15 Rail Overbridges (ROBs) and two Rail Under Bridges (RUBs) will be constructed in Prayagraj.
