Noida: The Noida Authority on Saturday set up two ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ (RRR) centre at Sectors 18 and 122. People can donate used clothes, shoes, utensils and plastic items at the centre, which will be refurbished by self-help groups and distributed among underprivileged people.
The move comes ahead of of the Swachh Survekshan 2023 and G20 Summit. Noida bagged the 11th position in the country and topped UP in previous Swachh Survekshan. The city scored 6,332 points out of 7,500 points in the assessment.
Indu Prakash, OSD Noida Authority, said “The aim is to make people aware and promote items that can be reused and recycled. For example, if a person donates two shirts. They can be recycled and made into a new product like a carry bag. This will be donated to underprivileged people,” he said.
Residents can also share a message on WhatsApp number 9717080605 and a team will pick up the items from their doorstep, an official said.
The RRR centre was inaugurated in association with HCL Foundation on Saturday in Sector 18 near multi-level parking. A mobile van was also flagged off, which will now visit different locations to collect donated donated items across the city.
