Johnstonganj: Johnstonganj Crossing Barricading Shifted To Niranjan Cinema Bldg | Allahabad News – Times of India



PRAYAGRAJ: Hundreds of traders heaved a sigh of relief as traffic police authorities have shifted the barricading from Johnstonganj crossing to (Sundaram Furnishing) Niranjan cinema building. Traders on Wednesday claimed that there has been an improvement in market as approach towards cycle, cloth, medicine and other markets have become easy for customers.
The traffic police authorities had blocked the traffic movement from Johnstonganj crossing towards Niranjan cinema building and left over 100 traders in a fix. However, when various traders association raised the issue before the district administration and traffic police, traffic police authorities shifted barricading at Niranjan cinema building late on Monday night.
Traders, however, admitted that the closure of both ways of road under bridge no 38 (Niranjan bridge) connecting Civil Lines to Johnstonganj crossing and other parts of the city has undoubtedly left its impact on market and shoppers have to cover long distance to reach Chowk, Ghantaghar, Leader road and Johnstonganj crossing.
Apart from shops, business of hotel and restaurants was also affected. Traders told TOI on Wednesday, “With the shifting of barricading from Johnstonganj crossing towards Niranjan cinema building, the movement for shoppers have become easy and this has undoubtedly brought smiles back on the faces of traders”.
A trader said, “Since the traffic police authorities have shifted the barricading close to the Niranjan cinema building, it has improved the market scenario. He, however, said, “We are all cooperating with authorities concerned”. Another trader said, “A much needed step on the part of traffic police authorities to shift barricading from Johnstonganj crossing to Niranjan cinema building has solved the problems of hundreds of traders are now able to do business without hiccups.”
However, the daily commuters, office goers, and school children have suffered the most as they have to cover extra miles to reach destination. With district authorities closing both ways of the road under bridge no 38 (Niranjan bridge) near Surajkund and Johnstonganj crossing for 100 days from May 9, traffic police authorities have no other option to divert traffic on alternative routes.
