Prayagraj: With Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning mayoral and over 50 corporator post seats in the urban local body poll results being declared on Saturday, Mohd Asraf (28) , a youth BJP worker with the paint portrait of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP’s newly elected mayor Ganesh Kesarwani on his body remained the key attraction among masses at Mundera Mandi.
After the victory of BJP candidate Ganesh Kesarwani on mayoral post, Asraf wishes to meet the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath to share his feeling over BJP’s victory across the state. He told TOI, “I would like to appeal chief minister to outspread more facilities to the poor people of the state who had extended full support to the party during urban local body polls. I would raise the problems of poor auto rickshaw drivers as well as a group of unknown people charging money from auto drivers near railway station”.
This 28-year-old BJP worker spent half of his earnings to paint portrait of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and party’s mayoral candidate Ganesh Kesarwani on his body since Kesarwani was declared party candidate for mayoral post.
Spending around four to five hours every day to garner support for BJP mayoral and corporator post candidates in old city areas, he sought blessings of eligible voters for overall development and welfare schemes of government. Asraf used to drive his e-rickshaw during night hours to earn his livelihood and took up campaigning for party mayoral candidate during day time. Pointedly, Asraf remained talk of the town for his unique way of canvassing and citizens wished to take selfie with him.
“I spent around Rs 1,000 daily to paint the portrait of CM Yogi Adityanath and party’s mayoral candidate on my body.” About six months back, Dariyabad resident, Asraf joined the BJP after being impressed over BJP’s union and state government’s functioning.
