UP: Two assailants who killed constable eliminated in exchange of fire in Jalaun | Lucknow News – Times of India



LUCKNOW: Two assailants who killed a police constable on duty were eliminated in exchange of fire with the police in Jalaun on Sunday.
They were identified as Ramesh and Kallu alias Umesh.
Four days ago, 36-year-old police constable Bhedjeet Singh was killed by unidentified motorcycle-borne men after he tried to stop them near the highway police post in Jalaun. Thereafter, four police teams and the special task force were directed to trace the assailants.
The post-mortem conducted on the body of the constable had revealed 25 gashes on his body by sharp edged weapon.
Special DG, law and order, Prashant Kumar, said that based on informer’s tip-off and surveillance the two attackers were traced.
“A police team was chasing the two and intercepted them at the factory area of Orai police station on Sunday. The police team asked the two to surrender but they opened fire, in retaliatory fire Ramesh and Kallu sustained bullet injuries and were taken to district hospital where they were declared brought dead,” said Kumar.
SP, Jalaun, Iraj Raja, said that a .32 bore country made pistol and a .315 bore pistol were recovered from the possession of the two miscreants. “We are rummaging through their criminal record,” he said.
