Aadhaar A Must For Students Appearing In Up Board’s Class 10, 12 Exams In 2024 | – Times of India

Prayagraj: The UP Secondary Education Board (UP Board) has made Aadhaar card mandatory for the students appearing in its class 10 and 12 examinations to be held in 2024 to check cases of impersonation. For this, it has started the process for authentication of Aadhaar cards of the students of classes 10 and 12 enrolled in the present academic session, i.e., 2023-24.
Along with this, the Aadhaar card of the students taking admission in classes 9 and 11 will also be certified so that the Aadhaar number could be made mandatory when they fill the UP Board examination forms next year. The process for authentication of the Aadhaar number follows approval given by the state government to the UP Board. This process will put an effective check in cases of impersonation during UP Board exams of high school and intermediate, officials said. Altogether, 133 impersonators were caught during the high school and intermediate exams of 2023 when Aadhaar cards of the registered candidates were matched with those appearing in the exams. Following this experience, the UP Board has made Aadhaar card mandatory for appearing in its class 10 and 12 exams.
The decision has been taken following the meeting chaired by the director general school education, Vijay Kiran Anand.
Officials said Aadhaar authentication will be first done for the students of classes 10 and 12 who have taken admission in the session 2023-24. UP Board secretary Dibyakant Shukla has directed the principals of all schools to match the Aadhaar number, spelling of the name, date of birth, gender and other details of the students who have taken admission in class 10 and 12 with the details and upload the same on the website of UP Board by May 20. The website will be operational from May 11 for matching and necessary amendments.
Similarly, if there is a difference or error in the spelling of a student’s name, date of birth, gender in the Aadhaar card, the students and parents would be directed to get the Aadhaar card amended so that all discrepancies can be resolved in time.
“After getting permission from the government, the hurdle of making Aadhaar mandatory for registration in classes 9 to 12 has been removed. We had sent such a proposal to the state government last year also, but it was not approved,” said UP Board secretary Dibyakant Shukla.
“Now that we would authenticate Aadhaar cards, impersonation would be curtailed by cent percent in the UP Board exams of classes 10 and 12,” added Shukla.
