Mundera: Preparations On For Counting Of Votes At Mundera Mandi | Allahabad News – Times of India



PRAYAGRAJ: With polling for Prayagraj Municipal Corporation over, now the district officials have geared up for the counting of votes scheduled on May 13 at Mundera mandi of the city.
The city had gone to polls on Thursday to elect a mayor and corporators for 100 wards.
Barricading, pandals and tables at the counting place are being put in place by the administration.
In total, the counting of votes will be completed in 20 to 21 rounds. Instructions have been given by the State Election Commission to aim to complete the counting in eight to nine hours. The counting of votes will begin at 8am.
On Friday and Saturday, administrative officials, including ADM finance & revenue, Jagdamba Singh and ADM administration Harshdev Pandey, inspected the counting venue and instructed to complete the arrangements on time.
A total of 96 tables will be set up at the counting station. All 15 returning officers (ROs) will be incharge of eight tables each. Of these, four tables would be for the post of mayor and four for corporators. Counting will be done simultaneously for both the posts.
A counting supervisor, two counting personnel and counting of 60 booths in one round have been planned for each table. First, the results of those nine wards will be declared where two or three candidates were in the fray. Ward number 2, 96, 78 have only two candidates each. Similarly, there are three candidates each in ward 28, 44, 51, 73, 77 and 95. The counting will be concluded faster than the rest of the wards. Similarly, early counting will be completed in those three wards where there are less than 10,000 voters.
The counting for district’s eight nagar panchayats i.e. Shankargarh, Koraon, Bharatganj, Sirsa, Handia, Phulpur, Mauaima and Lalgopalganj will be done in the respective tehsil headquarters. There too, the work of installing the tents, pandals, tables and barricading started on Saturday at the counting places.
In nagar panchayats, first the post of councilor will be counted, after that the counting of votes for the post of nagar panchayat president will take place.
Since voting has been done through ballot paper, the same will be taken out first from the boxes, then will be sorted out for the two posts according to colour. After this a bundle of 50-50 ballot papers will be made following which the counting will start.
