Prayagraj: In a first, Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital of Prayagraj district has set a record to generate the highest ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) number via online scan and share module for registration of patients across the country in April.
With 28,957 OPD tokens (ABHA numbers), the SRN hospital has generated the highest ABHA numbers in April month across the nation.
It is closely followed by AIIMS Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and UHM District Male Hospital, Kanpur Nagar (UP) which recorded 20,116 and 19,841 OPD tokens respectively.
The ABHA numbers (a 14-digit unique health ID) can be generated using an Aadhaar card or mobile number and allows users to share their health records digitally with hospitals, clinics, insurance providers and others.
Nodal officer (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Prayagraj) Dr Utsav Singh told TOI: “The National Health Authority (NHA) has revealed the top three performers of April month for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Scan & Share service through a tweet and claimed that Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, Prayagraj, UP has topped the chart.”
Singh said “Hospital across the country are actively adopting ABHA-based scan & share service for instant OPD registrations. This is helping the OPD patients to save time and avail digital service.”
ABHA numbers are being created for patients across the country to keep health records in digital form. It has been replacing manual records and can be accessed anywhere through mobiles.
“If a patient gets transferred from one hospital to another, these records play a beneficial role for further treatment accordingly. This is a step towards creating digital health infrastructure, making medical coverage more accessible, and providing a next step in digitizing healthcare records,” he said.
In Prayagraj, the facility of ABHA generation is available at five health units, including four district hospitals i.e. TB Sapru (Beli), District women hospital (Dufferin), MLN Divisional hospital (Colvin) and SRN hospital (MLN medical college) as well as Phulpur Community Health Centre.
Till now, over 60,000 ABHA cards have been generated. Patients who don’t have their mobile numbers linked with their Aadhaar card can also avail ABHA number through the new initiative by using biometric devices.
Health officials claimed that these ABHA number will be used for the purposes of distinctively identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with the consent of the patient) across multiple systems and stakeholders.
A Personal Health Record (PHR) application enables a user to provide consent for sharing and linking their personal health records with various healthcare providers.
