Prayagraj: Elaborate security measures have been made for the urban local body polls in the three districts of Prayagraj range comprising Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi. The polling will be held on May 4. Over 6,500 civil policemen and three companies of central paramilitary forces, including BSF, ITBP and CISF, have been deployed for free and fair polling in the three districts.
IG (Prayagraj range), Chandra Prakash told TOI: “Strategic deployment of forces has been made for sensitive and vulnerable booths and polling centres in all three districts. Apart from civil police, three companies of central paramilitary forces have also been roped in. Cops are currently conducting foot and flag marches in sensitive and vulnerable pockets of the districts to instill feeling of security among voters.”
He also said quick response teams, flying squads and static squads too have been deployed. In Pratapgarh, there are a total 506 polling booths and 220 polling centres and around 3000 police personnel including 2 ASPs, 9 deputy SPs, 49 inspectors, 593 sub-inspectors, 599 head constables, 1681 constables and 1012 home guards were deployed. Besides, three companies of PAC and one company of BSF have also been deployed.
In Fatehpur, there are a total 173 polling centres and 472 polling booths and for that over 2500 policemen, including 2 ASPs, seven deputy SPs, 39 inspectors, 556 sub-inspectors, 473 head constables, 1647 constables and 984 home guards were deployed. Besides, three companies of PAC and one company of CISF has also been roped in.
Similarly, in Kaushambi there are a total 124 polling centres and 304 polling booths. Over 2000 policemen, including one ASP, six deputy SPs, 30 inspectors, 353 S-Is, 1124 head constables, 1065 constables and 612 home guards were deployed. Besides, two companies of PAC and one company of ITBP has also been stationed.
“As many as 16,578 licensed weapons in three districts of the range have been deposited. Besides, as many as 27,892 people have also been booked under 107 \116 of CrPc. Also, police have slapped goonda act and mini goonda act against 219 and 1005 miscreants respectively. Cops have also slapped Gangsters Act against four persons and cancelled 37 arm licences,” he said.
