Lamborghini Revuelto is the new Aventador: 12 cylinders, 3 electric motors, 13 drive modes! – Times of India

The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the most recognisable names in the brand’s recent past. It has been the dream car for many around the globe. But all good things must come to an end and the Aventador is no exception. After 12 long years, Lamborghini is bringing in a new car to take its place, the Revuelto. Just as the Aventador took the place of Murcielago, the Revuelto will replace the Aventador. It is a plug-in hybrid but still retains the famed naturally-aspirated V12 that Lamborghini is known for.

The new powertrain

The 6.5-litre engine is accompanied by three electric motors, two of which are placed on the front e-axle and one integrated into the gearbox. Lamborghini has decided to use the V12 to power the rear wheels while the two electric motors are meant to provide power to each front wheel. The third motor can deliver additional power to the rear wheels when needed. There is a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, arranged for the first time behind the combustion engine and transversely to the V12. A lithium-ion battery sits in the tunnel that was traditionally occupied by the gearbox and drives the electric motors. The internal combustion engine can produce 814 hp and 725 Nm on its own but the combined power output stands at a whopping 1,001 hp.

The Revuelto is no slouch when it comes to accelerating from a standstill. It can reach a speed of 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds and 200 kmph in 7 seconds with a claimed top speed figure is 350 kmph. Of course, being a hybrid vehicle means that the Lamborghini Revuelto can be driven completely on electric power with four-wheel-drive. This means that you can drive around while generating no emissions but can unleash the full force of the vicious engine when needed.

Enhanced agility

The Revuelto gets anti-roll bars that are stiffer by 11 per cent at the front and more than 50 per cent at the rear. On top of having four-wheel-drive, it also gets four-wheel steering system to help with better manoeuvrability. With the inclusion of electric motors on the front, this sportscar also gets torque vectoring, the first for a Lamborghini. To further enhance the driveability and agility of the vehicle, Lamborghini has employed active aerodynamics with the new front splitter, adjustable rear wing and roof design. There is also a semi-active wishbone suspension, that responds to changing conditions and pressures to enhance the vehicle’s performance around a racetrack. The Revuelto is the first Lamborghini to be equipped with an aviation-inspired monofuselage. It is an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre structure that weighs 10 per cent less than the Aventador chassis while being 25 per cent stiffer.
Coming to the driving modes, with the hybrid powertrain, one can drive the Revuelot in either Recharge, Hybrid or Performance mode. Each of these modes can further be paired with the conventional Città (City), Strada, Sport and Corsa modes, resulting in a total of 13 modes.
This new Lamborghini runs on bespoke Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres. Customers can either get 265/35 ZRF20 on the front axle and 345/30 ZRF21 on the rear axle or 265/30 ZRF21 on the front and 355/25 ZRF22 on the rear, both featuring run-flat technology. Housed within the wheels are carbon ceramic brakes with 10-piston front callipers and 4-piston rear callipers.

The cabin houses a total of three screens that include a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch central display and an additional 9.1-inch display. There is a new steering wheel with four rotary dials along with some additional buttons. The new roof design has resulted in a small increase in headroom compared to the Aventador Ultimae, 26 mm to be precise. Occupants will also have more legroom (84 mm) which can provide additional space behind the seats to accommodate some luggage.

A bolder design

Visually, the Revuelto will remind you of the muscular Countach and the front of the vehicle seems to have an angry frown. There are Y-shaped LED DRLs at the front and the taillights also have the Y-shape motif. The rear of the car is dominated by two large exhaust ports and a massive diffuser. It also gets the signature scissor doors and the side of the vehicle is strewn with sharp lines and angular panels to accentuate the aggressive stance.
