Ahead of the upcoming urban local body elections scheduled on May 4, he said there is no doubt about the victory of BJP in Varanasi since its people have always supported the party in every election be it of Lok Sabha or Vidhan sabha. He said it is the desire of every ‘Sanatani’ that Kashi should spread a new light on the global stage. Regarding strengthening of law and order situation, the CM said, “Today, no criminal can walk confidently and no mafia can dare to kidnap a Nand Kishore Rungta”.

He said he visited Varanasi the most in the last six years and being a spiritual and cultural city, it attracts follower of Sanatan Dharma from all over the world. “Over the last nine years, our Prime Minister has given Kashi a new identity on the global stage. Recently, G-20 conference was organised here,” said the CM.
He added that the city is developing fast as roads are being widened, and it has four-lane connectivity from all sides. A ropeway is being built from Cantt to Godowlia to facilitate 1 lakh people to commute daily.
“Kashi’s development is visible in the form of wide and shining roads, cleanliness, TFC, Convention Center, a cancer hospital and more. I was told that so far 21,000 cancer patients have been treated at the cancer institute. I have provided Rs 72 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for cancer patients,” he said.
“We have given benefits to everyone in government schemes, irrespective of caste, creed or religion,” he said, adding that appeasement policy had held back the state’s progress. Today, there are no riots in UP and no extortion from traders. “By giving electronic tablets in the hands of the youth, we have made them technically competent,” he said, adding, “What was the situation before 2017 is known to all. There was terror of goons, but today our cities are safe.”
